Frederick H. Carlson Photo Frederick H. Carlson's illustration work has graced venues as small as CD covers and as large as room-length murals. A 1977 graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University, he has exhibited work in the NY Society of Illustrators annual exhibition and numerous solo and group shows. His attention to knowledge of subject is particularly visible in the 350 music packaging (CD/cassette/LP) commissions he has completed. During his twenty years in business, his watercolor and graphite compositions have been sought after when evocative portraiture or intriguing examinations of the natural world are desired.

Fred was National President of the Graphic Artists Guild from 1991 to 1993, and served as At-Large Chapter President of the Guild from 1987 to 1993. He taught senior illustrators at Carnegie-Mellon University from 1981 to 1994 and currently serves as an officer in the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators. He maintains an active schedule as a lecturer, teacher, musician and writer in addition to his illustration workload.
